Meredoth intriques me very much, but I jusst feel like his curse is either silly, or I think that he beat it waaaaaay too easily. None of my RL material really delves that deeply into him or his curse. I think the 3.5 DMG states his curse as the fact that "the emotions of the living in his realm distract him" or something. It seems like he outsmarted the curse by creating Lebentod and replacing most everyone on Graben with them.
Could someone possibly elaborate? I don't have Ship of Horror or whatnot, and even Domains of Dread said little about the nature of his curse. I want him to be a primary villain in my next campaign, but I must know more of his curse first.
Meredoth...?

If you can hold off on that question for a few more weeks, the Nocturnal Sea netbook should help resolve that issue.
FWIW, I wrote up Meredoth for that project, and I'd always thought his curse needed to be expanded upon, too. I hope you'll like the Gaz's new spin on the crotchety old crank's curse ... as well as his backstory, his stats, and his place of residence. (Honestly, would any real Alphatian settle for a no-frills dump like the lair from the module?
)
Last I checked, the original Ship of Horror module was available as a free download on the WotC website, BTW. Nothing on his backstory to speak of, but it'll give you a look at pre-Conjunction Graben Island and a good overview of Meredoth's domain.

Oh, I was unware that it was a free PDF now. I'll scope it out.
Our game starts Monday, but my PC's won't know that Meredoth is involved for at least 6-7 gaming sessions., so by the time we get to the juice, hopefully y';all will have the carton (The Nocturnal Sea Gazetteer) finished.
Also, I am glad I am not the only cat who thought his curse was a bit undone. Lebentod are great, but they seem to fufill all of his wishes without him having to chomp at the bit for anything.

Yeah, I actually hated Meredoth's concept so much that I rebuilt him from the ground up for the one time I used him IMC. He was a druid by the time I got done with him, and Graben Island was an dystopian paradise, so I don't know how much my redux would be relevant to you. Just wait for the Gaz.
I guess all I'm saying is, I feel your pain.
