In truth, Benn would like to search the ship more closely once Frauleine Sancerre is safely back with her father, or at least until he's sure she'll get there safely (IE she has an armed escort and is leaving the dock). The scene of the crime is fresh, and needs further investigation.
I figured you'd wanna do that.
Here's what you find:
Firts off, there's a paper laying on the desk in the little cabin. It appears to be an inventory-
Warehouse inventory [for the same building you all crossed through to get outside and fight the druagr]:
12 casks of gunpowder
20 bales of cotton
18 barrels of salt pork
6 bolts of yellow silk
1 barrel of printer's ink
14 ingots of pig iron
10 crates of dried tobacco leaves
other stuff [in the boat's cabin]
an ornate pocket watch [on a golden chain] about the size of a pear, in good working order
a small lockbox[ closed , locked, and a bit heavy- with some clatter and jingling when shaken]
a finely crafted magnifying glass of cut rock crystal, with a brass ring and cherry wood handle
a writing kit [papers, ink etc] in a leather satchel
an almanac, including high and low tides for the river Musarde and with a hand drawn map of the river's Richeumloise strecth tucked in the back
a set of silver letter openers in a velvet lined walnut box
two oil lanterns
flint , steel, and a tinderbox
-Elsewhere on the boat may be found ordinary boating tools and gear- a hatchet, some rope, etc. Nothing special. The cargo load lashed to the deck turns out to be food and water enough for several people to eat for a couple of days, and some changes of clothing for several men [nothing fancy about the clothes].
Questions?
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.
