Discussed in a previous thread ideas for a netbook. I'm detailing Ludendorf right now for my personal campaign, and reworking the original city map, using the information presented in Gazetteer II.
There are maps like this of many of the Core's cities. Anyone else want to volunteer?
Here's the map I have so far (currently reworking it):
"You truly see what a person is made of, when you begin to slice into them" - Semirhage
"I am not mad, no matter what you're implying." - Litalia My DMGuild work!
For Mordenshire click here. It comes with a complete map and write-up IIRC. Plus some other fun additions such as houses.
For the ever-delayed Ravenloft Module Project (RMP1) in it's super-secret hidden forum here we're setting it in Lechberg and I have a handful of maps for that (including Degravo and some other assorted buildings). So I've done alot of mapping. That said I'm still in awe over the above, very very nice.
The imperial system/details is left in from the old map. This is literally a reworking of the Ludendorf map that I think was a part of a poster map in the black box. I'm not sure, because I downloaded it, and the others, when they were made available on the Kargatane website many years ago now.
Basically, I took the original into my favourite paint program (paint shop pro 7.04), grayscaled the image, and started a number of vector layers, for roads, walls, buildings and temporary text until the locations can be numbered.
Then it was a case of taking to the original layer with a smudge brush, which makes the elevation look pretty cool, and slightly more realistic. I think it also ties in well with the current image of Ravenloft. You can see down on the south bank of the Black River that I've left it for now.
The scale was left in from the old map, but because I don't have the original, I really don't know how big 500 feet is on it (I can't measure it in inches).
Those who are imperially challenged, 150 metres is approximately 5 feet.
But out of curiosity (I do not mean to be rude with this question)
If you used the Black Box City maps for your version, isn't it forbidden, in terms of copyright, to modify any material owned by some company?
I ask this because I also want to contribute to the Net Book, and certainly I will be using those maps. Anyone have an Idea?

Um, not it's not. 1m equals 2.5 feet. So, 150m equals 375 feet.

Not in my book. 1 meter is 3.28 feet (1 yard is three feet is .91 meters), so 150 meters is 492 feet. Ultramyth must have meant to round up to the 500 feet he mentioned, and missed typing two zeros at the end.

My bad. It's 1 inch equals 2.5cm. 1m is 3ft approx. I'm not used to the imperial system. When my mum tells me the temperature she uses farenheit and I have to ask what it is in real money.

Metric? Bah! Who needs metric! My car gets ten furlongs to the hogshead and dag nabit thats what I like!

1" = 2.54 cm
12"/1' = 30.48 cm
5' = 1.524 m/152.4 cm
I don't know who taught you either the imperial or the metric system, but I assure you, 1.5 metres is the closest approximation to 5 feet you're going to find.
500'/5 = 100, 100x1.524 = 152.4 m or roughly, for game purposes, 150 metres.
Edit: Removed remark when I saw the corectional post. I'll leave the hard data in there though for future reference.

Respectufuly
I believe technically any work that difers from the original by more than 15%, or in a seperate medium can be regarded as the intellectual property of the new artist (not that I'm claiming it).
Especially as it is in a new medium to the original. For example, if you make a copy of the mona lisa, the painting remains public domain because the Mona Lisa is public domain. You take a photograph of it, and it's your intellectual property.
Call it appropriation, it's a different image. So I don't think there will be a problem.
