This could be very, very good, or very, very bad.

It's got Michael Rosenbaum (Lex in Smallville and the Flash in Justice League) and Lucy Lawless.

It can't not be good.

Sure it can.
Smallville is terrible and Xena was spotty at best. One was in a movie about guys pretending to be women in a sorority and the other has vanished from the spotlight for the last decade.

The movie is animated?
[arUUga! arUga!] Bomb alert! Bomb alert!

How much you wanna bet that they run out of budget halfway through - replace the draconians with live action dudes in masks, and end the film at Helm's Deep?

I suspect it'll go straight to DVD if it gets made.

Budget overruns are more likely to cause a cancellation or long-to-perpetual delays, like with the animated Conan film Red Nails.

In any case, better than a "D&D Part Three"... :)

But, hey, it doesn't feel THAT bad right now...

What really makes me shudder is this:
Writer

The screenplay has been adapted by George Strayton, whose credits include "Cleopatria 2525", "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys".

I'm not sure if reading that brings a lump to my throat, or the fruiting body of a rare and lethal parasitic fungus.

After reading this, all I can say is "Teehee." I know the movie can't possibly hurt my opinion of Dragonlance any. :)

Oh, my.

I'm a little confused as to why now. Wasn't Dragonlance's main peak of popularity back in the mid- to late nineties, before Fifth Age? Wouldn't it have made more sense to make a movie then, especially since it's animated and special effects won't be an issue?

Not that I'm not going to see it, but still . . .

Not being a fan of Herc or Xena, I'll probably go with the latter.

I liked Xena. It was infinately better than Hercules.

Xena was passable - up until the show started to get self-conscious about their fame and their gay/lesbian icon status.
So long as they keep Damacleus and Boy out of it, it will probably be fine.
