The Tower of Doom (from the eponymously named Tower of Doom novel) was a creation of Baron Caidin's to be used as a weapon of war and rebellion against Azalin Rex. Using the dread artifact known as the Soulstone, Caidin killed scores of people, captured their souls, and reanimated them as zombies. The zombies covertly built the Tower at night, and Caidin had Lord Inquisitor Sirraun launch a phony inquisition to cover the whole matter up. in 693 BC, Caidin finally used the stored soul power to energize the tower. However, he was interrupted by Wort and Mika. In the struggle with Wort, Caidin lost his life to the falling Bell of Doom. The destruction of the bell unleashed hundreds or thousands of restless zombies, all having been killed by the Bell through the eons. Wort called upon the Soulstone's power to move the Tower and thus escape the zombies. However, he was too slow and the zombies overwhelmed him, causing the whole Tower to plunge off the tip of Morrged's Leap and go crashing into the valley beneath, destroying them all along with Caidin.[1] This event occurred in 693 BC, thought the tower's ruins still exist there to this day.[2]
