One of the functions of the City Council of Paridon is the appointment and the removal of the Chief Constable of the City Guard. The council does not make such decisions purely on the basis of merit, being more concerned with aristocratic privilege than professional competence. The breathtaking turnover in Chief Constables, at least 6 since 742 BC, is at least partially the fault of the council.
