Appearing much the same as grim reapers native to the Demiplane of Dread, entropic reapers are highly different in that they are actively malicious, extraplanar undead originating from the plane of Limbo. Created to eliminate Lawful beings, entropic reapers are less than discriminant and destroy the majority of creatures they encounter.[1] Unlike grim reapers[2], entropic reapers are fully corporeal and visible to everyone present.[1]

The most notable characteristic of the entropic reaper is that its scythe's blade seems to be a black void in space. This blade inflicts a state of pure entropy upon its target, causing the unfortunate to start becoming incoherent in body and mind (inflicting Wisdom drain each round the transformation until Wisdom reaches zero, at which point the victim dissolves, leaving nothing behind.) During this entropic state, the victim does nothing but violently lash out against nearby targets. The victim can forestall the entropic state with a successful Charisma check, but only the application of powerful healing magic can remove the affliction.[3]

Entropic reapers normally are able to travel planes via the Plane Shift spell[4], but they face the same limitations on planar travel as everyone else in the Demiplane of Dread.

Descriptive Text

I at first thought this thing to be a grim reaper. While there are many similarities in appearance, this unliving creature is much more powerful. But its scythe was an amazing thing. It was fabricated out of darkness, and when it moved around the creature, it seemed like light itself was attracted to it, making the area where the unloving stood bleaker. The blade struck one of my henchmen, and the men dissolved into something not unlike ectoplasm. It seemed very painful. But as I wanted to neutralize this unliving and grasp its scythe, it retracted to the plane of shadows, and then fled from me. It’s a major disappointment, as this blade looked promising for a new dominant arcane incantation. It reminded me of these theories on arcane matter-sucking holes in the sky. Very promising and intriguing…
