Craven Cove is a wretched and forsaken seaside domain. An isolated island of terror, much of the land is unforgiving badlands interrupted by mountains, hills, and barrows. Hopelessness and despair abounds, for the people of the town's main settlement, Widow's Peak suffer under a curse left by the domain's former darklord, the Sea Witch, laid upon the land when the townspeople burned her at the stake. The people are cursed never to have children, no matter how hard they tried. Now, they grow older and older, with nobody younger than middle aged.
Many of the folk still fear that the Sea Witch still lives with the curse as evidence of her continuedd existence. They are wrong; the Witch is truly deceased. But the truth may be so much worse, as the realm has no current lord. This may seem like a blessing, but it means that the domain is falling apart, and will eventually crumble to oblivion should a new darklord not be found.
