The Damuhm Baori is a stepwell in Sri Raji which was built very near to the East Damuhm River. It was designed not just to collect water but to filter it against a particularly virulent disease. However, once the danger of that original disease had passed, the baori was not maintained for several decades. Following a drought which began in 702 BC, the Great University of Tvashti began its restoration in 703 BC. Restoration continued even after the drought ended in 704 BC and was completed in 708 BC. It continues as a place for professors at the Great University to test their theories of water management. Just as importantly, though, the increased trade across Sri Raji in recent decades has led to the expansion of the surface of the baori as well. Pavilions and arcades invite weary travelers to stop and refresh themselves.[1]
