Henry Thorpe

Henry Thorpe is a character from Heaven's Bones. He is the designer and crafter of the wings that allowed the Angels to fly.

History

Henry Thorpe was the cousin of Sophie Huxley and Bernard Huxley. An Englishman, he was the assistant to French aeronautics engineer Clement Ader until the latter lost funding in designing flying machines. Henry subsequently returned to London where he was hired by Trueblood on behalf of Dr. Sebastian Robarts for design work on wings. Henry was lured to Bryani House where he was imprisoned and coerced into creating wings for the Angels. Trueblood used his powers of mind control to get into Henry's head and enhanced Henry's knowledge of engineering with strange and exotic manuscripts from the library.

Henry worked for an unknown amount of subjective time in the temporal distortion of Bryani-House-of-the-Mists but was eventually found by Sophie. Together they tried to escape the Mists but Henry was captured by Dr. Alistair Weldon and forced to begin work on making Angel wings for Beatrice Weldon as a beguiling voice appeared in his head again. Back on Earth, all memory of his existence seemed to fade away.
