Maligno

Maligno is the darklord of Odiare and a carrionette, based on Pinocchio. He was created by the toymaker Guiseppe out of his desire for a son, and Maligno ended up murdering the entire adult population because they would not believe that he was real. The children, who originally loved him and did believe he was real, adored him. Maligno keeps Guiseppe, now driven mad, in an attic in one of the houses, making more toys and carrionettes for Maligno. Maligno had originally planned to use a cadre of carionnettes under his control to possess the adults of Odiare. However, he was foiled by a group of adventurers that destroyed his fellow carrionettes. However, Maligno survived and went into hiding. Safely ensconced in a secret lair, Maligno later forced Guiseppe to create a second group of carrionettes, which subsequently rampaged through Odiare and slaughtered all the remaining adults instead of possessing them.

Although he hates Guiseppe, Maligno needs him, for the old toymaker is the only one who can bring back Maligno from destruction. Also, Maligno cannot harm Guiseppe, for Maligno also suffers any harm inflicted on inflicted upon Guiseppe. Unique for a carrionette, Maligno is cursed to never live inside a human body, having lost the typical carrionette ability of possession.
