The Northlands is a chilly to temperate land with a surprisingly diverse ecological range, hills and mountains cut by a fjord in the north, bogs and swamps in the east, plains to the south, and coastlines and sea to the west. The Northlands is home to the Kosti Tribe, a group of proud but deeply religious and austere people. The people have given up many of their old bloody ways, yet a few old vestiges still linger on.[6]
More recently, the Northlands had been experiencing a boom in cultural and scientific development as well as trade.[7] However, much of what has taken decades or generations to accomplish has seemingly been undone by the actions of a single man: Gravesten Hansen[8], Jarl and darklord of the Northlands.[5] Jarl Hansen rules from his fortress Miklaborg near the Northlands' largest town, Miklaheim.[3]
The Northlands was explored by the Paridoner Winston Smythe and described in Travelogue of the Northlands[9]
