written by Erryl Goucus, this book on military history depicts the failure of Azalin in his war to destroy Strahd was due to Strahd's agents infiltrating the Kargat and murdering their top leaders. This happened in 580 BC. Goucus' perspective contradicts the Darkonian popular folklore, which holds that Azalin stayed his hand against Strahd in order to combat the Whistling Fiend and focus on internal matters.[1]
