Darkon- Maps

- Domains of Dread - Contribute -

Darkon is both the largest and most northern domain in the Ravenloft core.
Ruled by The Wizard-king Azalin (at least up to his mysterious dissapearance), this domain is also the most fantastic domain, its inhabitants including all demihuman races.

Assumptions and Added Details

This map is based on information from the Requiem set. However, the dimensions were changed to suit the maps from the original Realm of Terror. Most of the elevation lines were taken from these maps, too. As with the Falkovnia maps, the dimensions of the Requiem map got distorted, probably due to the 3D-map from Ravenloft Campaign Setting.
One major thing I changed in this map is the way the Vuchar runs. Originally, it flowed from Nevuchar Springs.
However, now this seems really odd, as this would mean the Nocturnal Sea would flow land inward...
In this map, if you look closely, you will see that the contributing rivers from the Mountains of Misery now split when reaching the Vuchar. Essentially, the major part of the river flows to the west (as it was before), while a smaller stream now flows east into the Nocturnal Sea. This was the best I could do. Hopefully, the kargatane will address this issue when they start creating the gazetteers.

There are several villages on this map that were taken from supporting products and novels.

Devering is taken from Van Richten's Guide to the Created, from his account of the gibbering golem.

Both Creeana and Dargal Pass are from Van Richten's Guide to Fiends, while Varithne is from Van Richten's Guide to Werebeasts.

The village Milanov is mentioned in the novel To Sleep with Evil.

Introsia is from the Nightmare Lands box. While not specifically stated that it was a Darkon settlement, I judged that it would suit best here (esp. with the presence of dwarves).

Finally, I also added Bleak House (from the box), and the vilages around Il Aluk.
