Re: The religions of ravenloft

also;

Falkovnia, the Vladeska abomination was the most lame and barren, from tyranny Vlad's domain to a survival zombie flash horror game with a protagonist "darklord" self-insert of some pitiful "writer". What we can do is just use a few females with a proper pseudonym they all share; Vladimira ...

Re: The religions of ravenloft

The best recent dinosauric pile of manure (to put it politely) as the old bad material was from 2e (Thoughts of Darkness for example) etc, is the abysmal changes done for non-game reasons (mumbo jumbo "politics", sexualization of gaming elements, and psychopathic obsessions) such as the Victor to ...

Re: Queer Representation in Ravenloft

That is what it was and if it is not something forbidden and requiring some hidden practices then the ravenloft setting, and anything adjacent as a concept, is a bad parody of anything gothic horror and dark fantasy. It would make it a joke to say the least.
If nothing is forbidden and taboo, or ...

Re: Queer Representation in Ravenloft

The best and only efficient way (as its foundational) to represent the existence of all sexual stuff like that in the Gothic horror of Ravenloft is the following, based on historical examples with the self-purpose being maintaining and enhancing the Gothic horror atmosphere of the setting and each ...

Re: The religions of ravenloft

I just like making new things like that from old ones, regardless if the are good or bad or average, so we end up eating our cake and eating it too since we end up with both. :mrgreen:

Re: The religions of ravenloft

For Ravenloft to truly function as an atmospheric setting (and be 1), that is not an artificial arcade-like jump into the next region and be confused again, the there would be no border of mist and a fully political landscape aka Westeros (the setting sucks in my opinion except for the plots within ...

Re: The religions of ravenloft

"Weekend In Hell" is too gross a term. Its a subtle shift barely noticeable until the "mists" metaphorically have enveloped the heroes. More of a "slip into this nightgown" with the slip into its silken surface being unnoticed until the "crime occurs" as the transition completes. But its the same ...

Re: The religions of ravenloft

It breaks immersion and distorts the gothic horror frame as it changes all the time. We already have a base setting, usually, from which the heroes originate. If we take them to another and then each domain or almost each has other deities and there are the deities of the originated setting that fit ...

Re: The religions of ravenloft

i use the pre-existing evil deities from the settings and do not use the ravenloft mess of religions which are a mix grill of faerun, krynn, celtic, artificial pseudo-religions, egyptian, ancestor collectives, hindu, and other stuff.

Most in ravenloft are Celtic, then its from Faerun, then its ...

Re: Wanna help me with a dragon domain?

While those 3 are draconic dominant characteristic traits, in the red dragon microcosm a major error-sin would be: weakness of any kind.

Re: Wanna help me with a dragon domain?

Regarding the dragon domain theme and not the particular thread question. The three things that should dominate as concepts in a dragon ravenloft domain are;

1)Gluttony, constant voracious consumption of everything possible. Pleasures of all sorts.
2)Greed leading to vast accumulation of goods ...

Re: Level Draining

You can die a heroic or untimely or stupid in a comical manner death, but having levels vanish is just miserable. Whether you live or die, it just sucks.

Dying and suffering and having scars is natural. And heroic, its part of the struggle.

A specter causes 1d8 damage per blow plus 2 levels loss ...

Re: Level Draining

It was good that it was scary, as it made the creatures scary, but it felt nasty in a really petty way. Like a waste. The huge problem was and is that it wastes time in the real world and ruins the game in-game and off-game, and it distorted the reality in the fantasy world itself because it was a ...
