Inovidil covered her ears and looks at the mouth.

"Ok guess we have to open this door too. But with this mouth thing...better cover our ears when open the door, because I'm afraid that will scream even more then..So everybody ready to go in?"

beneath Blackpillars

The doors swings open at a push. The mouth on it ceases to scream.

Beyond the door is a large room, well-lit by glowing panels set into the ceiling. One exit is visible on the far side of the room; a wooden door, re-inforced with iron bands. You don't see anyone in the room.

Tables and racks are positioned about the room, with all sorts of strange things stacked on them: copper braziers, crystal alembics, devices that appear to be either surgical tools or implements of torment, jars holding pulpy masses of unidentifiable tissue suspended in amber fluid, and many other oddities.

The walls are bare, except in spots where hang oversized vellum charts and scrolls. Some of these wall hangings depict disected human or humanoid bodies in intricate detail. Others bear strange runes and weird mandalas of impossible geometry.

In the very center of the room is a mansized steel cage, half covered by a heavy tarp. Below the bottom edge of the overhanging cloth cover, you can see the base of some large mechanism built of wood and iron.

A faint sound issues from beneath the tarp; wet and ragged breathing.

Whispering, "Tell ye what,, someone open that tarp, an tha others attack the thing inside full force. Fair enough? Or we talk to it? I doubt that will work, though. This Delthrin is a real piece of work if'n ye be askin me."

Archedius whispers back "I'm going to talk to it, you two stay hidden." He starts towards the cage.

Ironheart will wordlessly hand the old man a coin,
get the cheese,
sit down and begin to eat
- not cutting the cheese with a dagger, but ripping it apart with his bare hands.

The old man accepts the coin with words of thanks and makes room for the hulking warrior to sit by sliding one of the two trays heaped with food and drink out of reach.

''Take whatever you like from my tray. Leave the other for the Ki...leave the other, I pray you. Shall I have more food and drink brought, friend?''

''Sure.''

The old man points to one of the nearby houses.

''If one of you folks will kindly knock on that door and tell my wife to bring out some more food and drink, we'll have a proper meal.''

Archedius silently motions for approval to the others as to whether to remove the tarp or not.

As Ironheart sits down and starts heartily eating the cheese, Blaise looks at Shana with a raised eyebrow, and whispers, "Where did he come from, by the way? And will the rest of the wolfpack come looking for him?"

He steps forwards, forces a smile, and says to the old man. "That's very generous of you. Perhaps we'll sit with you and chat some more later, but..." he looks at Ironheart as he emphasizes the last words, "...we really need to continue walking before the evening gets too late."

He pauses then, his mind suddenly catching a detail from a few seconds earlier:

"We'll happily pay you for any food we've taken that was intended for someone else, wise sir," he says. "Who is that plate meant for? We'd like to help if we can."

Inovidil always as troll, looks around, a horrifying look at her eyes as sees the torture things. She takes a moment though to check if
there are any arcane symbols around and the bottles. Then she says:

"Archedius, if you want I can lift the tarp with a spell."
