In Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, garden larva[1] are tiny fiends that are part of the ecology of the Devil's Garden developed by Khyristrix. Technically immature devil's trees, the garden larva mature by forcing themselves down the throats of humanoids and killing their hosts with acid rot from the inside. A mature tree in turn bears several garden larva as "fruit".
Garden larva create blue secretions that collect in several pools within the Devil's Garden, but these secretions are harmless and even hold a little bit of nutrition.
