Regina Mortuis, the Black Lady, is a bastard sword made from an unknown metal alloy. Formerly used for ritual executions by an infamous guild of executioners from the Prime Material Plane, it was taken by the Mists when one of the guild members was also so claimed. At one point it was studied by Phantom's Bane, but its current whereabouts are unknown. It might have been used by one of the Talons during the first Dead Man's Campaign or perhaps have fallen into the hands of Ivan Dragonov or George Weathermay.[1]
Regina Mortuis is a +3 keen vorpral weapon. It continually thirsts for the blood of the guilty. It is repulsive to the innocent, but if used to harm them, the sword may drive the wielder mad. (The weapon is very legalistic in defining guilty and innocence.) It doesn't radiate magic, but it bears an unusual ethereal resonance that draws ghosts to it.[2]
