Formerly of Mordent but now residing in self-imposed exile in Nova Vaasa, George Weathermay (known simply as Weathermay in Nova Vaasa) is a famed crusader against evil and monster hunter whom has worked alongside Dr. Rudolph van Richten. Years of fighting darkness has hardened George's heart to make it void of mercy for transgressors, particularly after he was seduced by the werewolf Natalia Vhorishkova, a seduction that resulted in the severe injury of his niece Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove.[1][2]

History

Born 709 BC[3][4], George Weathermay is the son of Jules Weathermay and Martha Scoville Weathermay, and the brother to Alice Weathermay.[3] He has two nieces Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove and Laurie Weathermay-Foxgrove.[5]

In 726 BC, George Weathermay left his home to fight evil and help the people of the Land of Mists.[6] In his crusades, he fought alongside Claudia DeShanes, Arametrius, and Rudolph van Richten. He accomplished much and became quite famous over many adventures, accomplishing his mission of bringing glory to the Weathermay family name. However, years of witnessing the mercilessness of the Land of Mists gradually its tole, transforming his idealism into a much grimmer and more fatalistic outlook.[7] In 731 BC, George's sister Alice passed away[3]. George held Alice's husband, Daniel Foxgrove, responsible, thus causing them to become estranged for each other. However, George still holds deep love for his nieces.[7]

In 741 BC, George met and fell in love with a beautiful and dashing maiden named Natalia. Their love was such that a wedding seemed soon on the horizon. However, this was but a ruse, for Natalia was actually Natalia Vhorishkova, a long-time enemy of Dr. van Richten. Her feelings for George were entirely deception, for she only sought to use proximity to George to catch Dr. van Richten off guard and kill him. The scheme ultimately fell short of its mark but ended brutally nonetheless with the mauling of young Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove and her (as yet unknown) infection with lycanthropy. The deception and paralysis of George in the moment of Natalia's unmasking has left him with a grievous spiritual wound that will not heal, perhaps not even with her death, which he swore himself to effect. Beginning with the mass slaughter of the Vhorshkova Family down to its last toothless elderly noncombatant, Weathermay's zealottry to stamp out evil monsters has brought a callousness to his heart that drives him away from the goodness he showed in his younger days.[8][2]

George felt great guilt over Gennifer's injury, and he did not return to Mordent after the destruction of the Vhorishkova. Instead he traveled to Nova Vaasa in a self-imposed exile, where he became known as a hero by the simple moniker of Weathermay. While in Nova Vaasa,George Weathermay encountered and killed Semine the green hag.[9] He utilized the Witch-Finder Compass in tracking her down.[10]

As they grew up, Gennifer and Laurie decided to take up Dr. van Richten's mantle of hunting the unnatural and evil things of the world and publishing monster hunting guides. Although this development left George deeply conflited, he contributed a chapter to Van Richten's Arsenal.[11]

Current Sketch

Though George makes his residence in Arbora, Nova Vaasa[12], George wanders much of the Core in the hunt for evil. Unlike his earlier days, George is Merciless against true enemies, for his perspective is one of pure black and white, Good people (whom he must protect) and Evil monsters, whom he must destroy. George is especially tireless in his pursuit of Natalia, though she remains an elusive foe. He pursues her not only out of blistering hatred but also out of fear that Gennifer's injuries have an infection with lycanthropy. As Natalia is the master lycanthrope that would have afflicted Gennifer, Natalia must be killed in order to effect Gennifer's cure.[13]

George is mostly a loner in his crusades, but he may venture alongside allies when required. He otherwise eschews contact and conversation as much as possible, building up the legend of a mysterious white knight folk hero. George's overpowering shame for his past mistakes and fear of exposing them to further danger causes him to avoid his beloved nieces. He keeps tabs on them through a network of friends and family[13]

Animals and Equipment

At the time of the Black Box, George rode a horse named Perseus.[14] As of the time of Champions of the Mists publication, he rode Shadowchaser and bore two hounds at his side, Artemis and Cerebus. He wields the magical sword, Gossamer.[15]
