Monkeys are typically arboreal primates possessing tails and noted for their intelligence.[1] Monkeys are found in most domains[2][3], particularly Barovia.[4][5]
The above information comes from the 2nd edition Realm of Terror and Ravenloft Campaign Setting boxed sets. The inclusion of monkeys the small animals table may have been so elements from domains with more tropical or arid climate were present. Later revisions of the Ravenloft setting possibly would have removed monkeys from the Core.
Monkeys can be found within the dead city of Anhalla (Sebua).[6] They are among the creatures least afraid or hostile to humans within the Wildlands.[7] They may also be encountered in the Shadow Rift[8] and Sri Raji.[9]
