Racism is nigh ubiquitous in the Land of Mists, although its intensity and the risks that it poses vary greatly. Falkovnia seizes demihumans as state chattel. The Tepestani treat with the fey, often so loosely defined as to include elves, as though they were generically evil. The Church of the Lawgiver declares that the fallen and twisted souls of demihumans are manifest in their ugly and deformed bodies. The Mulan of Hazlan conceive of themselves as the master race. The elves of Sithicus deem humans to be their inferiors. The Vistani are despised everywhere they go, although no more so than in Invidia where they are hunted down like rabid dog. And Dementlieu pursues advantageous trade relations with the coloured "primatives" of Sri Raji. In Darkon there is not so much racial harmony and mutual respect between the races as there is a darklord who does not discriminate in his consumption of the souls of the living in the service of his ends.
