Gemstones or gems are coveted, naturally occurring substances that lend themselves to being cut and polished for decorative use, typically as jewelry. Most gemstones are minerals. Some like lapiz lazuli are simply rocks. And a few like a amber and jet are organic substances.

Gem mining occurs in Darkon[1], Sithicus[2], Sanguinia[3], Sri Raji[4], and Vechor[5]. Gem deposits also exist in the Wildlands, but the lack of civilization in that domain prevents gem mining.[6]
