Horatio Wicks

Horatio Wicks was the son of Ornette Wicks and Carolina Wicks and brother to Caleb Wicks. Horatio was the only one of his family to be able to get Caleb to behave. He did this by telling him the stories of Black Hat the Swordslinger, an infamous (but probably fictional) murderer and criminal. Caleb learned to fear that name, but also despise Horatio for telling it.

Horatio's fate was sealed one day when the family was traveling across the desert in a horse-drawn wagon. After a sandstorm caused their wagon to wreck, Horatio was mortally wounded. He was stabbed to death by his brother and his body was eaten by his family to give them sustenance through the desert.
