The | The Illithid god-brain was once a human psionicist whose psionic city was being invaded by the Illithids. In order to defeat them, he began mad research and became more like them. Eventually, he became seduced by their power and made a deal with them, sacrificing his own people to become more like them. Thus, he and the entire Illithid civilization were transported to Ravenloft, and the former psionicist got exactly what he wanted, the power of an Elder Brain. However, he can no longer experience feelings and emotions directly, nor can he stray from the briny pool in which he rests. Thus, to feel any sensation at all, he must devour the brains of prisoners, only to feel a fleeting moment of ecstatic sensation, only to have it vanish once again into numbness and apathy. | ||

The Illithid god-brain was once a human psionicist whose psionic city was being invaded by the Illithids. In order to defeat them, he began mad research and became more like them. Eventually, he became seduced by their power and made a deal with them, sacrificing his own people to become more like them. Thus, he and the entire Illithid civilization were transported to Ravenloft, and the former psionicist got exactly what he wanted, the power of an Elder Brain.
