History

In life, Sir Godfrey Gwilym was a knight of the Order of the Silver Dragon. He held a romantic relationship with his superior, Vladimir Horngaard. In the conflict with Strahd and his forces, Gwilym was personally slain. This event devastated Horngaard and made him all the more resolved to destroy Strahd. After Horngaard fell at Argynvostholt, he rose again as a revenant, reanimating the rest of the Order as undead including Gwilym. Now they exist as revenants, their souls trapped in Barovia.[2] Horngaard's hatred has driven the love he and Godfrey shared from his memories[3]

Sir Godfrey Gwilym is one of the potential enemies of Strahd chosen by Madame Eva's card reading. In this case, some of Gwilym's previous memories come back to the surface and he offers to go with the player characters to face Strahd.[4]
