Abd-al-Mamat was once, and perhaps shall one day be again, the ruler of the Wounded City in Al-Kathos. Born the son of a slave, abd-al-Mamat's wisdom and judgement nonetheless earned him accolade beyond his station. He eventually became vizier to the the sheikh of his tribe. Abd-al-Mamat served faithfully and provided much needed advice for the sheikh. Yet, abd-al-Mamat grew bitterly jealous over time of the sheikh's position. Abd-al-mamat cursed Fate of his low-born origins.[1]

Following the deaths of the old sheikh and his son, the young sheikh, abd-al-Mamat was chosen, despite his initial objections, as the new leader of his people. Abd-al-Mamat held onto the title of vizier and thought of himself still merely as an adviser. Under his rule, the tribe prospered, and a Hall of Judgement was built. The people diligently followed his many decisions but came to rely on his counsel and command more than each other. Sickened by their increased dependence upon him, abd-al-Mamat grew colder and harsher still, now becoming a judge more than an adviser. The city grew wealthier still, but at the cost of the people becoming ever more alienated from one another and maimings becoming ever more common.[2]

Eventually, a milestone occurred when abd-al-Mamat exploited the judgment capability he had used to rule. Abd-al-Mamat became enamored with a young woman. However, she was in love with another man, a merchant. Abd-al-Mamat offered the merchant fine wealth for her hand, but the merchant refused. Abd-al-Mamat brought charges against the merchant, resulting first in loss of limb but ultimately culminating with judicial murder. However, the young woman escaped, jumping from a ledge, but she disappeared without landing.[3]

From then on, abd-al-Mamat grew ever more cruel in his judgment, until everyone but he was marked by loss of limb as punished. The city ruled by abd-al-Mamat was called the Wounded City and shunned by travelers. That is until the city was cut down by a literal storm of swords. abd-al-Mamat was sliced to ribbons and dispersed to the winds much as his people fled.[4]

Eventually, a descendant of one of abd-al-Mamat's followers found his still living hand. Overtime, the descendant has been gathering more of his body parts such that abd-al-Mamat may be remade again.[5]

Some fans have suggested abd-al-Mamat should be a darklord of the Wounded City as a pocket domain

This dark lord was born the son of a slave but wound up as advisor to the local sheik. For many years he did the job well and wisely. That changed when the old sheik died and the sheik's son treated him less respectfully. He later met with the Dark Lord Malbus. Malbus played on the fact that although he was recognized as the wisest of his people he was only an advisor and not ruler. Over time and repeated secret conversations Abd-al-Mamat was corupted. He arranged for the new sheik to be found in circumstances that made him appear guilty of murder. After the sheik was executed he took power. He pretended to be reluctant to do this so as not to appear as power hungry as he now was. One day he lusted after a woman and kept asking for her as a concubine. He kept pushing the young husband to give her up. Eventually he had him executed and the young bride killed herself rather than submit to him. Every 40 years the rule of the domain passes to him for a year. Outside of that year he is a powerless geist that can only watch things fall apart. Abd-Al-Mamat has no way of closing his domain so if he wants to prevent people leaving he needs to send the city guard after them. During that year he rules with an iron fist with mutilations and executions being common. After a year of rule a whirlwind of swords comes out of the desert and cuts him to pieces. After about 40 years parts of his body start returning and when the last piece is put into place he returns fully and rules again for a year.
