The doll golem is a magical animated construct and as such lacks the dread golem template. It is a mindless automaton that obeys in the most straightforward way possible the orders of its maker, drawing no conclusions and taking no initiative. The creature will not resort spontaneously to special actions such as tripping or disarming, but it may either be given a specific instruction to make one such attack or may be directed as necessary by a maker who is immediatley at hand. When issuing instructions to the animate thing, its maker is wise to error on the side of simplicity. The creature has the shape of a foot-tall doll and when inactive offers no hint of being something other than a simple child's toy. Its employment is often as a defender, or as an attacker, of children. A doll golem can today be found in nearly any land. Its first appearance may have been in Sanguinia, where rumors say a travelling priest created the first one to protect his wife and daughter as they traveled.[1]

The successful maker of a doll golem is a divine spellcaster of at least the 15th level. He or she pours 15,000 gp (or its equivalent) into bringing his or her idea to "life". Of this total, 10 gp are spent fashioning the thing's body, which takes two weeks and a successful Craft (carpentry or sewing) check (DC 15). The ultimate animation of the thing requires 1,100 XP from the caster and the casting of the following spells: animate object, bless, holy word (or blasphemy), prayer, and Tasha’s hideous laughter. An arcane spellcaster must in fact be imposed upon to cast the last spell.
