The mature form of the sea spawn species, the master sea spawn controls its immature minion sea spawn and uses them to dominate and herd its prey.
Sea Spawn General Information
The sea spawn is a singular species of foul aquatic monster that has two very different stages of its life cycle. The sea spawn in its mature form, the master sea spawn, controls its immature offspring, the minion sea spawns, telepathically in order to infiltrate coastal communities. The minion sea spawn are tiny, slug like beings with mouths resembling those of lampreys. The bite of a minion sea spawn carries a [[::category:cause of Paralysis|paralytic]] poison that immobilizes its victim and allows the minion sea spawn to burrow into victim's skull and take over the brain. So dominated, the victim turned host waits for its master to burrow more of its kind. Not all of the master's offspring makes it to shore, with a small number swept back into the sea, and a small number of that surviving to maturity.[1]
The Master Sea Spawn
Appearing distinctly different from its slug-like offspring, a master sea spawn is looming vaguely humanoid-shaped aberration covered in scales and coated in noxious, slippery mucus. Like amphibians, the master sea spawn's hands and feet are webbed, but it also has great claws and teeth to help rend its prey. Those bitten may contract a horrible rotting disease.[1]
Though capable of sustaining itself on aquatic life, these are but ash in the master sea spawn's mouth when compared to intelligent, humanoid prey. Once it has dominated a community, the master sea spawn orders its minions to throw victims over cliffs into the water.[1] In Dementlieu, one favored area for this tactic might be the Widow's Walk.[2]
Should a master sea spawn need extra defense, it is capable of summoning fish to protect it, similarly to how a Summon Monster spell works.[1]
Known Areas Encountered
Sea Spawn can be encountered in the following domains: Dementlieu[3], Mordent[4], the Nocturnal Sea[5], and the Sea of Sorrows[6] As an evil aquatic creature, master and minion sea spawn can be encountered in Saragoss.[7]
