The Sentinel Order, also known as the Legacy of the Sentinel, is a generally Good aligned qabal on Gothic Earth that was first organized by Ferrin Crowther in the wake of the European witch trials. As with many Good-aligned qabals, their intent is to fight The Red Death. However, the Sentinel Order also works to fight the corruption that the Red Death has infused magic with. As such, their primary targets for recruitment are arcane spellcasters, mystics, and those displaying psychic or other supernatural abilities. Recruiting and mentoring such endangered people before the Red Death claims theem is a top priority for the group. However, anyone who has overcome an encounter with the Red Death's forces and strives to see its plans thwarted could be recruited by the organization. Over time, the Sentinel Order's goals have branched out to include protecting those skilled in other fields of technological, scientific, or otherwise intellectual inquiry.^[1]

Charles Babbage, the Countess Ada Lovelace, Jules Verne, and H. G. Wells have all had some degree of contact and communication with the Sentinel Order. The Sentinel has also worked with Die Wächtern on occasion.^[1]

The symbol of the Legacy of the Sentinel is an eye hanging over a witch's cauldron.^[1]
