Wizards of High Sorcery are native to the world of Krynn, of the Dragonlance continuity. They are the dominant society of Wizards on that world, providing the basic education for those interested in arcane magic and the strict trial that determines whether a student is allowed to enter one of the three Orders and advance to higher levels.

The three Orders of the Wizards of High Sorcery - the White Robes, Red Robes and Black Robes - respectively focus on Good magic, Neutral magic and Evil magic in accordance with the teachings of the three deities who co-founded the Orders in an effort to make magic controllable and ensure its continued use and growth on Krynn. These deities are, respectively: Solinari, Lunitari and Nuitari. Unlike the other members of the pantheon, these three cousins work together for the sake of preserving and propagating magic on Krynn before other concerns.

Entry into the Prestige Class Wizard of High Sorcery requires that one be a specialist Wizard. A White Robe must be either an Abjurer or a Diviner; a Red Robe either an Illusionist or a Transmuter; a Black Robe an Enchanter or a Necromancer. Each Order offers unique benefits and secrets to its members, and each Order's power waxes and wanes in accordance with the phases of the three moons of Krynn, which are also the celestial representations of the three gods: Solinari, Lunitari and Nuitari. Lunar conjunctions would increase the power of the Order whose moons crossed each other's path even further, with a full conjunction of all three moons when full offering a rare and supreme power-boost to all.

In the Demiplane of Dread

The moon over Sithicus is known locally as Nuitari, and was once a black orb that could only be seen by the undead and Evil spellcasters, just as the Nuitari of Krynn could only be seen by the Undead and members of the order of Black Robes - unless it physically crossed paths with Solinari or Lunitari. It formerly granted enhanced power only to Evil spellcasters when they were in the domain, and was symbolic of the fact that the Balance between Good and Evil did not exist in Sithicus.

Given that the nature of the moon changed after the Hour of Screaming Shadows due to the White Rose's ritual, and it now incorporates the light of all three moons of Krynn, its boon has changed to incorporate all arcane spellcasters in the domain. Additionally, the moon now symbolizes that the Balance does exist, and that justice can surpass the dreadful power of Ravenloft.
