Borcan law functions primarily on a level of restitution (that is, material compensation). When a criminal or other transgressor cannot afforb the assigned debt, he is executed, paying the greatest price: his own life. Those wanting to go around the law or have been driven to enough hostility may invoke the death debt and call for a duel.[1]

The Borcan term for death debt is crnepte chorosh.[2]
