Sitting atop Halloway Hill overlooking the Arden River and the ruins of Steadwall, the Halloway House is the ancestral home of the Halloway Family, but as of yet, no known adventurer has come back alive holding such rumored wealth.[1] As the Halloways dwindled in number under mysterious circumstances, the last of them became paranoid and spent their remaining years alive in their extravagant manor. They may still dwell their in some fashion to this day.[2]

Halloway House and the hill it sits upon can be reached via the ferry crossing known as Smythe's Shadow, named after Smythe the Ferryman that takes people there. If the Smythe's Secret dread possibility is in play, Smythe lusts after the hidden riches of the house and is responsible for at least some of the deaths of adventurers he has delivered there, either delivering them to Mist Ferrymen or robbing and murdering them himself after they return to the ferry with loot obtained from the House.[1]

According to an account set forth by the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins, Halloway House has become infested by mistlings. Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove encountered and was attacked by such a group there. Though overwhelmed, Gennifer somehow survived. Several years before, the Freidlin family lost a couple of young boys to the Halloway House.[3]
