Marishka Obour is a minor character from the novel, Baroness of Blood. The eldest daughter of Baron Janosk Obour and a mother of unspecified name, Marishka was the sister of Ilsabet Obour and Mihael Obour. She inherited to their mother's beauty[1] and had some artistic skill, having made several tapestries.[2] Following the death of her father as a result of the botched invasion of Sundell, Marischka was, like her stepmother Lady Lorena, was stricken with grief. Unlike Lady Lorena, Marishka did not commit suicide. As per his settlement with Baron Janosk, Baron Peto Casse (baron of Sundell) assumed control over Kislova in return for sparing the Obour Family and their allies. All of the Obours, save for Ilsabet Obour, swore oaths of loyalty to Peto.[3]

Eventually, Peto courted Marishka, and they were to be married. Ilsabet charged Marishka to never fall in love with Peto, their father's executioner.[4]. Despite Ilsabet's admonishment, Peto and Marishka did fall in with each other. Ilsabet went on pilgrimage to see Sagesse of what was to become of her love with Peto, and Sagesse told her that she would not live long, but she could live as she pleased and do what she wanted during that time.[5] On an outing with Marishka, Ilsabet poisoned Marishka's horse with a neurotoxin. The ensuing riding accident left Marishka critically injured and bed-ridden. Back in Nimbus Castle, Ilsabet slowly poisoned Marishka to death under the guise of nursing her and attending to her emotional needs. Although Ilsabet came to admire and bond with Marishka like never before, Ilsabet went through with the murder. On death's door, Marishka and Peto became married in order to make her last few moments as enjoyable as possible.[6]

Following her death, Marishka was not cremated, at her request. She wished to be buried, so Peto ordered the construction of a marble tomb for her. Marishka Obour's Tomb came to be thought of as a haunted place, watched over by the ghost of a werewolf[7], bidden to watch over it until a great wrong had been righted. Marishka's ghost came to haunt Ilsabet and attempted to warn Ilsabet away from further treachery. Ilsabet did not comply.[8] At the end of the novel, Marishka's ghost, or at least an image of her, prevented Ilsabet's pursuit of Sagra to reclaim Lekai.[9]
