Meta-Polymorph is a Lich Salient Ability that allows the lich to transform at will as if it had cast a polymorph self spell. This ability also allows it to assume the powerfs of undead creatures it assumes the form of, save for that of the vampire.[1]
This ability was included in Van Richten's Guide to the Lich and Van Richten's Monster Hunter's Compendium II but never made it to 3rd Edition sources. The 3rd Edition Alternate Form special ability represents a similar, if more highly limited, degree of shapechanging power.
