Mytteri

Mytteri (“Rebellion”) is the source of all evil according to the Church of the Lawgiver. This malevolent force is typically lent personification as a false divinity of nihilism and solipsistic malignancy, driven by self-interest and self-gratification, and at war with the natural order. The Lawgiver then is seen to stand over and against Mytteri in all things.[1]

The picture that the Iron Faith paints of Mytteri needs, of course, to be taken with a grain of salt. Indeed, it is even questionable if Mytteri exists. Then again, the Dark Powers have a way of making entities, whose existence is doubtful, effectively exist, the Lawgiver himself being an example. This opens the door to different Mytteris as a function of the expectations of the would-be worshiper. For the individual seeking the dissolution of the existence, Mytteri can be a chaotic evil would-be world breaker. For the individual seeking the liberation of the Vaasi people from their shackles, Myterri can be a chaotic good breaker of chains. And for the individual seeking the overthrow of institutions, tradition and received ideas, he can be a chaotic neutral Reveler in the Moment.

Alignment

The alignment of Mytteri along the law-chaos axe is certain: he is the chaotic antithesis of the lawful Lawgiver.

The alignment of Mytteri along the good-evil axe is uncertain: the Lawgiver is considered to be good, not evil, by his worshipers, complicating the matter of an antithetical alignment; rebellion could be consistent with a chaotic evil, chaotic neutral or chaotic good alignment; hedonism also, although there might be somewhat of a bias to chaotic neutral; and nihilism isn't decisive either, perhaps suggesting a bias to chaotic neutral in its strict sense and a bias to chaotic evil in a proactive sense.

The Great Upheaval

The Church of the Lawgiver maintains the Great Upheaval was an attempt by Myterri to destroy the world. The intervention of The Lawgiver, during which he fell silent, saved the world from disolution and restored it, to the degree possible, to its pre-existing order.[2]
