Shadow Unicorns are an evil type of magical beast native to Ravenloft, and the legend is that they were sired by Addar--a true unicorn--and a female nightmare. They are endemic to the forests of Darkon and Falkovnia.^[1] When Shadow Unicorns mate, the resulting offspring are always twin foals with a tiny chance that one of the foals may grow to become a true unicorn. The Vistani know enough about the creature to pacify them when they journey through the shadow unicorn's territory. They are known to enjoy the taste of Dread Treants.

Shadow unicorns can also be found in Invidia^[2], the Shadow Rift^[3], and Valachan^[4].
