Styrix
This section contains canon info from officially published sources |
Styrix is a night hag called into the Land of Mists by Azalin. She now resides in Martira Bay, preparing her Rift Spanner to escape from the Demiplane of Dread.[1] Her presence in Matrira Bay means that her reality wrinkle affords its citizens protection from Azalin's memory altering and undead command powers derived from his darklordship.
Background
Azalin, ever desperate to escape his captors, opened a one-way gate to the Grey Wastes and called a night hag into the Land of the Mists. When progress towards escape was not readily forthcoming, Azalin deemed Styrix useless, and banished her from his presence.[2]
What Azalin did not realise was that Styrix had discovered a great deal about the planar mechanics of the Land of the Mists, far more than himself and probably anyone else. She put her knowledge to work in creating the Rift Spanner, a device that could tear free of the tendrils of the Mists and escape to the Prime Material Plane. Ultimately, she hasn't yet attempted her escape as her plan is intended to furnish a party with an adventure.has [3]
Styrix, like all night hags, has a voracious appetite and consumes one human a day, usually derelicts or drifters that no one would miss. She also kidnaps people to charge her Rift Spanner, which requires mortal souls to operate. She has been assembling a large number of larvae in her lair beneath Martira Bay to serve as her sentries.[4]
Other Notes
Styrix has apparently retained the ability to transform living souls into larvae. She has been assembling a large number of larvae in her lair beneath Martira Bay to serve as her sentries.[5] While not in her original entry, and being a lower planar outsider, it can be assumed that Styrix has a reality wrinkle, and cannot be permanently destroyed by conventional combat. It is probable, given her extensive knowledge of the plane, that she has refrained from performing power rituals.
