The Fever[1] was a wasting disease in l'Morai that disfigured Juron Cygne in l'Morai. André Cygne had a magical ruby pendant that protected him but shared it not with Juron. Thus he earned Juron's wrath. Juron murdered Andre and stole the pendant, but Andre cursed it, paving the way for much suffering in their home of l'Morai for the next several hundred years.
Four hundred years after the cursing, the Fever was in use as a cover up for the transformations and amnesia caused by the living death. Such people supposedly affected by the Fever but were not included Marie the Blind Juggler and Hermos the Man-Giant.
