An outlaw is a criminal who has either escaped from imprisonment or has evaded being imprisoned. Outlaws have been convicted in person or in absentia of breaking the law of a state. They are hunted men, being sought by law enforcement officers. A price or bounty may be put on their heads, in which case they are also pursued by bounty hunters.
