Alfred Larner[1] (born 718 BC) is the primary in-character writer for the Zherisia Gazetteer. As such, he is both Zherisian and a member of the Fraternity of Shadows. He is also the leader of the Paridon cell of the Fraternity.

Background

Alfred Larner grew up in the teachings of the Divinity of Mankind, then attended the University of Richemulot, where he encountered Professor Viktor Hazan and Erik van Rijn. Deemed as a deserving recruit for the Fraternity, Larner was inducted into the ranks. He finished his education in 742 BC and moved back to Paridon to act as a recruiter there. Although he first began his work with his fellow Celebrants of Humanity, doctrinal differences led to his departure from their fold as Larner began to work as a private educator for prospective new recruits.

Larner's sponsorship of nontraditional recruits has ruffled the feathers of many of the more dogmatic members of the Fraternity, but his skills as an intellectual and recruiter have kept him in good standing. Because many of his recruits come from backgrounds as transmuters and alchemical philosophers, they are subject to temptation by the traitorous van Rijn. Therefore, Larner keeps a constant eye out for signs of the lich's presence.
