An absconder is a person who hides or flees in secret from something of importance, particularly an appointed responsibility to a job or person. The absconder is one who engages in acts of evasion and concealment; they wish to remain hidden from whatever fate may await them. A deserter is a form of absconder. The act of absconding is often an act of betrayal.
