Unlike the Blars before them, the Merionites were successful conquerors of the Kingdom of Firfair and dominated it long enough to leave their mark on Firfairian language and culture. (Their pronunciation of Firfairian as Forfarian is what is used today.)[1]

Like the Blancs before them, the Merionites were eventually overthrown in the liberation of Firfair in the year of 952 on the Forfarian Calendar. However, the years of foreign rule had removed a proper claimant to the throne of the Kingdom. Rather than face civil war, the kingdom broke apart into several independent baronies. The Barony of Forfar was one of these such baronies. It came to be ruled by the ApBlanc Family for 641 years.[1]
