Marie Renier (b. 681 BC, d. 730 BC) was a wererat, the daughter of Claude Renier and Isabelle Moseau as well as the sister to Anais Renier and Eduardo Renier. She married Simon Audaire. The family trees in Realm of Terror lists four known children as a product of this marriage[1]

Marie Renier murdered her husband in 710 BC. She bequeath the Renier surnam to all her children, a family tradition in which Jacqueline has followed suit.[1] Marie herself was later poisoned to death. Retribution for her murder in kind came against the family cook after a list of poison ingredients was found in the kitchen. Ultimate responsibility for the murder was thought by the family to be due to Jacqueline, and she did little to dispel such attributions. However, Louise believed the matter to have been engineered by Raul, for he had a hatred for the cook. and the cook was illiterate. In any case, Raul departed for Barovia soon thereafter.[2]

Marie had handed down the legacy of Renier women murdering nonlycanthropic husbands to the next generation. This would eventually provoke a backlash from Simon and Marie's nephews Gerard Renier and Pierre Renier, whom reanimated Simon as one of the ancient dead and formed the a cult around him in 735 BC.[3]
