First introduced as a Dread Possibility in Quoth the Raven Issue 28, Roe is a Devoratrix who entered the Demiplane of Dread in Ghastria in 740 BC.

History

Finding Ghastria to be not at all to her liking, Roe journeyed to Dementlieu, where she became aware of the existence of the Red Haunt. What was meant to be an opening move to gauge her kinswoman's strength and establish dominance turned into a disaster for Roe; an agent of the other Devoratrix she turned into a slave was actually in service to the Centurions of the Night.

The first counterstrike saw Roe permanently scarred and her estate home destroyed; she fled Dementlieu for Borca and Kislova, but the Centurions dogged her every step. Seeking security in an alliance with an enemy of the Red Haunt, Roe made the mistake of approaching and attempting to seduce Ciphramir. Her coarse attempts awoke the ire of Federlin, and Roe was once again permanently scarred and forced to flee.

Now forced to go to ground in the domain she detested most, Roe returned to Ghastria, established a lair in the cellars of the ruined church of East Riding, and awaited an attack ... that did not come. Roe now believes her enemies are content to leave her to suffer in the place she least wants to be.

Reinvention

Not content to cower for the rest of her existence, Roe has started strengthening herself. She is a voracious reader, devouring every bit of lore she can get her hands on. She has taken to praying to Shar, the dread goddess she once served on the Prime Material Plane, and her prayers have been answered with the powers of a Cleric.

Combining divine magic with unarmed martial combat, Roe has entered the Sacred Fist prestige class. Although she does not realize it, she has already grown much stronger. All it would take for her to realize that she is, if not a match for her enemies, at least in a position to establish herself in a far better position than she currently holds, is for her to be challenged by enemies closer to her own level.
