Wescote Manor

Wescote Manor was the residence of the Wescote Family and in particular of its last surviving member Burton Wescote. It was a two-story affair that was well over a century old. It stood northeast of Mordentshire, a little east of Mill Road. The bogs about the Wescote lands had been expanding for decades, giving rise to the Great Moor and threatening to soon swallow up the manor. Their expansion and their haunting by the ghost of Burton's bride-to-be ceased with his death in 743 BC. The manor may have been destroyed at that time or may stand to this day. In any case, no distant heirs are known to have come forward and not many people would have been eager to make the Great Moor their home.
