Aiyanar is the deity of the village of Gaudalur. By day his divine proxy is an ordinary man, working the rice paddies of Gaudalur, but by night Aiyanar's power manifests. The proxy summons a spiritual horse and patrols the Bhuta Jangal in defense of his village.[1]
