Gaudalur is an isolated village in Sri Raji located somewhere within the Bhuta Jangal. Very few people know how to find it. In fact, it would probably be completely unknown to the rest of Sri Raji except that the leaves of the Gaudaluri tea plant are widely considered to be excellent in quality.[1]
The Gaudaluri sell their tea to the Easties, who then distribute it elsewhere throughout Sri Raji and to the foreign trading companies, who then sell it to Paridon, Dementlieu, and other places throughout the Land of Mists. However, even the Easties don't know where to find Gaudalur, instead meeting with the Gaudaluri at a well-known spot along the Lambee Sadak.[1]
In addition, rumors have circulated that the Gaudaluri also breed magnificent horses, which is particularly intriguing because horses have historically fared very poorly in Sri Raji. Unfortunately for those rajas interested in buying Gaudaluri horses, there is in truth only one, and it's a spiritual being, not a material one. The proxy of Aiyanar, the local village deity of Gaudalur, manifests each night along with his horse in order to patrol and defend the village.[1]
