Modelled after Renaissance France, Dementlieu is led by the political puppet lord-governor Marcel Guignol, though the domain is truly ruled by the charismatic and manipulative Dominic D'Honaire. It is considered the cultural heart of the Core.

The chief threat in the domain of Dementlieu is Dominic D'Honaire and the fell influence he has on the domain through his Obedient. Other supernatural threats are less frequent in Dementlieu than many other domains. Most that do show up have unique modus operandi and may be even considered one of a kind. Others are shapechangers or otherwise able to blend into Dementlieuse society, such as dread dopplegangers, impersonators, and even phasms. Vengeful incorporeal undead, such as wraiths and odem)s, are not unknown either.[2]
Reavers and sahuagin are said to favor Sable Bay and Pernault Bay for finding prey.[3]

The climate of Dementlieu rarely reaches extremes. In winter, only the occasional light layer of snow ever dusts the ground, and in the summer season usually sees only a few days of uncomfortably high temperatures. Rain is fairly frequent, especially during the spring and autumn.

Treaty of the Four Towers
The Treaty of the Four Towers is a defensive alliance between the nations of Richemulot, Borca, Mordent and Dementlieu against Falkovnia. This treaty was created by the Josephine Chantreaux.

Mordent and Dementlieu are often regarded as sisters, with Dementlieu viewing Mordent as the little sister which often comes off as Patronizing towards the people of Mordent. However, despite this they do have a cordial relationship.

- Approximately 309 BC Likely False History: According to The Dementlieuse Sect's teachings, texts from the "original" Church of Ezra date back to this time or slightly earlier.[4]
- Approximately 357 BC False History: Léon (of Dementlieu) unites Dementlieu and establishes the Council of Brilliance.[5]
- 707 BC Possibly False History: Peasants riot and rebel. This ultimately results in Lord-Governor Bernard Foquelaine's execution and his replacement by Lord-Governor Chambon.[6]
- 707 BC The domain of Dementlieu appears, and the d'Honaire family emigrates there.[7]
- 707 BC The Dementlieuse nobles begin providing the most bare bones of social support for the needy in an effort to appease the rebellious common folk.[8]
- 707 BC Dementlieuvian Annexation: Falkovnia invades Dementlieu but is repulsed.[9]
707 BC-708 BC Joan Secousse finds Ste. Mere des Larmes. She goes back to Mordent and reports discovering an ancient temple of Ezra. Warden Secousse leads an expedition of anchorites back to the site.[10]- 709 BC The Dementlieuse Sect of the Church of Ezra is established in Port-a-Lucine with Joan Secousse's discoveries in Ste. Mere des Larmes. She pens the Third Book of Ezra and receives permission to become bastion of the third sect of Ezra.[4]
- 712 BC Rudolph von Aubrecker almost drowns off the coast of Lamordia. Alexis Wilhaven retrieves Rudolph's body and takes it to Dr. Mordenheim for medical treatment. Dr. Mordenheim instead takes out the brain and performs a series of operations that turns von Rudolph von Aubrecker into the Living Brain.[11]
- 713 BC The Living Brain dominates Wilhaven and forces him to take it to Dementlieu. There, von Aubrecker will become a new crime lord known simply as "the Brain".[11]
- 724 BC The Executioner's Campaign occurs[12]
- 727 BC Claude d'Honaire becomes terribly weakened by disease, leading to his replacement by Dominic D'Honaire as chief adviser to the Lord-Governor.[13]
- 728 BC Lord-Governor Chambon is replaced by Lord-Governor Marcel Guignol.[12]
- 729 BC Treaty of the Four Towers is signed.[12]
- 732 BC [[Marie Delacourte] is born. Marcel Delacourte is her father.[14]
- 743 BC Richard Diosa purchases the Port-a-Lucine Opera House.
- Approximately 750 BC Nikolai Melentha manifests as a ghost and kills his first victim: that of his father.[15]
- 751 BC After surviving an assassination attempt on his life by the Kargat, Alanik Ray leaves Martira Bay and becomes a freelance detective in Port-a-Lucine.[16]
- 752 BC Helenè DuSuis is appointed to the Council of Brilliance.[17]
- 757 BC Spring: "S" begins documenting the domain.[18]
