In Curse of Strahd, the player characters can get a reading of the fortunes of Ravenloft from Madame Eva (or Ezmerelda d'Avenir). One of the cards draw will indicate a special NPC designated as a special foe of Strahd von Zarovich. Such an NPC will have the normal behavior specified in the adventure modified, and they gain the ability to grant Inspiration to a party member when Strahd is encountered. However, Strahd seeks to destroy such a character very quickly. See Curse of Strahd p. 15-17</ref>
