Introduction

Fear reigns in Chelleaux. The revolution has been raging for half a decade, with governments overthrown and aristocrats hunted across the countryside. Traitors all meet their end at the same place: at the blade of Mademoiselle Guillotine. Aristocrats and nobles hide as best they can, sheltering themselves in manors or moving across the countryside while a few try and buy safety or collaborate.

Notable Inhabitants

Geography

Surrounded by mountains to the East and North, the land of Chelleaux and dominated by its capital of Sarnis, a bustling river city.

There is a large maze of crypts and catacombs beneath the city of Sarnis, tunnels with walls made of skulls collected from years of beheadings. It is quite extensive, and there are folktales that say the skull tunnels have actually been there longer than the city itself. Some say strange shrines can be found down there.

Population Distrubtion

The majority of the population of Chelleaux is human, with a modestly sized Halfling community in the northern valleys.

Towns

Authority

There is no one of real authority in Chelleaux. There can be, and often someone rises to power. However, their reigns are inevitably short lived and they soon find themselves before "la Mademoiselle".

Adventure Hooks

  • A noble family has found a way to hide in their country estate, using an enchanted grandfather clock crafted by Klorr. What price do they pay to fuel the clock's magic and secure their safety?
  • One by one, the players find themselves losing their heads to the guillotine. Each feels the life drain from their bodies. Each sees the world go black. And yet somehow they awaken, late that same night, in an empty field far from any city. They find that their heads have been placed upon pikes, in a circle, all of them facing each other. From the darkness surrounding them, a vampire approaches, walking into the center of the circle. He asks the players if they want their bodies back, and offers them an unholy deal. Their own headless bodies follow behind the vampire as his thralls.

World of Origin

While the homeworld of Chelleaux is unknown, it bears many similarities to Galt on the world of Golarion.
